How to Find Your Minecraft PE Server IP Address

If you want to join a multiplayer server in Minecraft Pocket Edition that is not already in your friends list, you need two pieces of information: the server address and, in most cases, a port number. This sounds simple but trips up a lot of new players, especially since the process differs slightly depending on where you found the server. Here is a step-by-step way to track down a correct, working address.

Step 1: Know the Two Address Formats

A Bedrock/PE server address usually looks like a domain name (something.example.com) or a raw IP address (a string of numbers separated by dots). It may be followed by a colon and a port number, such as :19132, which is the default Bedrock port. If no port is listed, try the default first before assuming it is missing.

Step 2: Check the Source Carefully

  1. If you found the server through a community Discord, look in a pinned message or a channel named something like server-info or connect.
  2. If you found it on a server-list website, the address is usually displayed directly on the listing page, sometimes behind a copy button.
  3. If a friend invited you, ask them to share the exact address and port they used, not just the server name.

Step 3: Add the Server in Game

Open Minecraft PE, go to Play, then the Servers tab, and choose Add Server. Enter a name you will recognize, paste the address into the Server Address field, and enter the port if one was given. Save, then tap the server entry to connect.

Common Mistakes

  • Typing the address with extra spaces or a trailing slash copied from a website
  • Confusing a Java Edition address with a Bedrock/PE one; the two editions are not directly compatible without special software on the server side
  • Leaving out the port when the server specifically requires a non-default one
  • Using an outdated address from an old post after the server has moved hosts

What to Do If It Still Will Not Connect

If you have the address right and it still fails, the problem is often on the server side rather than yours: the server could be offline, full, or temporarily down for maintenance. Check the server’s own announcement channel for status updates before assuming your settings are wrong. It is also worth confirming your own internet connection by joining a different, known-working server to rule out a local network issue.

A Note on Safety

Only add servers from sources you trust. A server address by itself cannot harm your device, but some communities pair server invites with links to external downloads or sign-up forms; treat those separately and never enter account credentials anywhere outside the official game or launcher.

Once you have confirmed an address works, save it under a clear name so you are not stuck hunting it down again next time you want to play.
